St. Gregory the Great…
When anyone has forwardness and zeal, there shall be given to him all things on God’s part also, but if he is void of these and does not contribute his own share, neither are God’s gifts bestowed.
This is a reflection that should make us think, not only in the context of our Time, Talents and Treasures but our overall responsibility for our Church and it’s ministries. When we consider forwardness and zeal, we think of “near or belonging to the front” and “a strong feeling of interest and enthusiasm.” Reflecting on Stewardship, do we make this a priority in our lives? Do we budget our income to ensure that a portion is provided for the Church? Are we happy about giving? Do we volunteer and attend events with interest and passion?
St. Gregory summarizes how we should approach Stewardship – the questions is whether we see it as the most important consideration.
